The district administration of Nankana Sahib has announced a five-day closure of all educational institutions in connection with the Baisakhi Mela celebrations. An official notification has been issued regarding the closure.
A large number of Sikh pilgrims have already arrived in Pakistan from India to take part in the annual Baisakhi Festival. Nearly 7,000 Sikh pilgrims from India are expected to reach Nankana Sahib for the event. In addition to Indian pilgrims, thousands of Sikhs from Pakistan and around the world will also attend the celebrations.
The main ceremony of the Baisakhi Mela is scheduled for April 14.
To ensure the safety of the visitors, a special security plan has been put in place on the instructions of the District Police Officer (DPO). According to a police spokesperson, around 2,000 police officers and personnel will be deployed for security duties.
Alongside the district police, additional forces from Punjab Constabulary Farooqabad and other districts have also been called in to assist. Sikh pilgrims arriving from abroad are expected to reach Nankana Sahib on April 12.
The district is fully prepared to host the event, with security and administrative arrangements being finalized for the smooth conduct of the festival.
