Schools Closed in AJK Amid Rising Tensions with India
Will Punjab schools open on August 15? [Full schedule here]
MUZAFFARABAD: In response to increasing tensions along the Line of Control (LoC), the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government has announced the immediate closure of all public and private schools in the region.
The decision was confirmed through an official notification issued by the Secretary of Elementary and Secondary Education. It states that all schools will remain closed until further notice due to the deteriorating security situation caused by ongoing Indian aggression across the LoC.
“The safety of our children is paramount. In light of the ongoing hostilities across the border, this step has become necessary,” the notification read.
The move affects thousands of students across AJK, many of whom were in the middle of exam preparation. Education authorities have acknowledged the disruption and said contingency plans will be announced soon if closures are prolonged.
Parents and school staff have been advised to closely follow official updates. Reopening will only be considered once the situation improves and schools are declared safe for attendance.
This is one of the most significant education-related shutdowns in the region in recent times, highlighting the deepening impact of geopolitical tensions on daily life.
