Cambridge O and A Level Exams Cancelled in Lahore Amid Security Threats

Punjab adds another class to board exam list
The scheduled Cambridge O and A Level exams in Lahore have been cancelled today due to growing security concerns, including fears of possible drone strikes from across the border. The decision was taken just before the 2:00 PM exam session, according to reliable sources.
The cancellation comes in the wake of increasing tensions following recent military aggression by India. While the situation in Lahore has raised red flags, exams in other cities such as Karachi, Islamabad, and others are continuing as planned.
The British Council and Cambridge Assessment reportedly made the decision shortly before the exams were to begin. Students and parents were informed at the last minute. An official statement is expected to be released soon.
Security officials have been on high alert in Punjab province. In response to the volatile regional situation, the Punjab Home Department has increased its civil defense readiness and is boosting public awareness.
On Wednesday, a high-level security meeting was chaired by Punjab Home Secretary Noor-ul-Amin Mengal. The meeting included all Divisional Commissioners and Regional Police Officers (RPOs). It focused on strengthening emergency response systems across the province.
Following the meeting, the Punjab government ordered all Divisional Intelligence Committees to hold urgent sessions to assess and respond to any immediate threats.
These developments have left many students and families in Lahore anxious and uncertain. While education officials are working on rescheduling plans, there is no confirmed date yet for when the cancelled exams will be held.
As the situation unfolds, students in affected areas are advised to stay in contact with their schools and the British Council for updates.
