Schools and colleges closed in Lahore till May 11 amid Pak-India tension

All government and private schools, colleges, and universities in Lahore have been closed until May 11, 2025, due to rising security threats after recent missile and drone attacks from India.
The attacks, which happened on May 6 and 7, hit several areas in Punjab and Azad Jammu & Kashmir, causing civilian deaths and serious damage to buildings and infrastructure.
In response, the Punjab government declared a state of emergency, putting hospitals, security forces, and rescue teams on high alert. To protect students and teachers, all educational institutions were officially closed starting May 7.

According to a notice from the School Education Department, schools will also remain closed on May 9 and 10 (Friday and Saturday). However, O-Level and A-Level exams by international boards will continue as planned.
There has been no official update about May 8, and the government has called fake the social media messages claiming holidays are extended beyond May 11.
Authorities said any future decisions will be based on ongoing security reviews, and parents are advised to follow only official updates from the Punjab School Education Department or their verified social media pages.
