Summer vacations 2025 to begin on May 17 as per new schedule

The Balochistan government has released the summer vacation schedule for 2025 for schools located in the province’s hotter regions. According to the official notice, the holidays will start from May 17. The summer break will continue until July 31, and schools will reopen on Friday, August 1.

The Punjab government has also shared the summer vacation schedule for both public and private schools. The holidays will start on June 1 (Sunday) and end on August 9 (Saturday), giving students their longest break of the year.

The decision was made due to the rising temperatures and climate change concerns. Officials have warned that if the heatwave worsens, the summer break could start a week earlier to protect students and school staff.

A spokesperson from the School Education Department said the move was made to prioritize the health and safety of students and teachers. Extreme heat can affect not only learning but also the overall well-being of children.

Experts have been warning about global warming and its increasing impact. Pakistan is considered one of the most vulnerable countries to climate change, which has led the education and health sectors to take early preventive actions like this.
