Cambridge Announces Major Update on Exam Paper Leak

Punjab adds another class to board exam list
Cambridge International Education (CIE) has announced that students impacted by the recent leak of three exam papers will be allowed to retake those exams for free in the November 2025 session.
The affected papers include:
AS & A Level Mathematics Paper 12
AS & A Level Mathematics Paper 42
AS & A Level Computer Science Paper 22
These exams were part of the June 2025 session and were compromised due to leaked questions that surfaced shortly before students were scheduled to take the tests.
CIE has confirmed that official results for these papers will still be released on schedule, but students who feel the leak may have affected their performance — or who simply want a fair chance to improve their grades — will have the option to resit the affected papers at no cost.
According to CIE, the free retake option has been communicated to students and their families via their registered schools. The organization also mentioned that more detailed guidance will be issued after June 2025 results are published.
Students with questions or those interested in retaking the exams are encouraged to speak directly with their schools, which will coordinate with CIE to register them for the November session.
This decision comes after public outcry and concern over fairness, following the confirmed leak of specific questions from the exams. In response, CIE also announced earlier that students would receive full marks for any questions proven to be compromised by the leak.
The exam board stated that these steps are part of their effort to maintain fairness, transparency, and confidence in the international assessment system.
