Punjab to restore board exams for class 8 students
Punjab boards to announce 11th class results on October 15
The Punjab government has announced that board exams for Grade 8 students will be held again across the province.
This decision was made during a meeting of the Punjab Examination Commission for Testing and Assessment (PECTA), which Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat chaired. He said PECTA will organize and conduct the Grade 8 exams, and a full plan for this will be prepared in the next 30 days.
The minister also discussed changes for other classes. Students in Grades 5, 6, and 7 will no longer have traditional exams. Instead, schools will conduct internal assessment tests to check how well students and teachers are performing.
A proper system for these tests will be ready within a month. The minister said this system will help make the process more transparent and effective.
For students in Matric Tech (Grades 9 and 11), the government plans to turn textbooks into video lessons. This will support students who are learning technical subjects online.
A special academic committee will make sure these videos are of good quality. Teacher trainers will also be selected based on their past results and performance to improve technical education.
Rana Sikandar Hayat also directed the education department to prepare early for the printing and delivery of textbooks for the next academic year. He said any delay in this process would not be acceptable.
