Islamabad declares winter vacations for schools, colleges - check date
ISLAMABAD: The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) has announced winter vacations for schools and colleges working under the federal education system in Islamabad.
According to the notification, winter holidays in Islamabad’s model schools and colleges will start from December 26. All FDE-run educational institutions will remain closed until January 3. As January 4 falls on a Sunday, classes will resume from Monday, January 5, 2026.
Education authorities across the country have announced winter holidays to keep students and staff safe during harsh weather. Thick fog, cold waves, and snowfall are affecting many areas, especially the northern and mountainous regions.
In Sindh, both public and private schools will observe winter vacations from December 22 to December 31, and schools will reopen on January 1.
The Punjab government has announced winter vacations for all schools from December 22, 2025, to January 10, 2026, with classes resuming on January 10.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), winter vacations have been announced with different schedules. Schools in the summer zone will remain closed from January 1 to January 15, while institutions in winter zones will have extended holidays from December 22, 2025, to February 28, 2026, due to severe cold weather.
