Punjab minister shares schools reopening update after winter holidays
LAHORE: Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has shared a clear update about winter holidays in schools across the province.
He responded after rumors spread on social media claiming that winter vacations would be extended and schools would not reopen on January 12. The minister strongly rejected these claims and said they are false.
Rana Sikandar Hayat said there is no plan to extend winter holidays. He added that the news being shared online about an extension has no truth.
Punjab Winter Vacation Schedule 2025–26
According to the official notification, winter holidays for schools started on December 22, 2025. The holidays will continue until January 10, 2026.
All schools will remain closed during this period because of the annual winter break.
Schools Reopening Date
As per the schedule, schools across Punjab will reopen on January 12, 2026, and classes will start as usual.
Update on 8th Class Board Exams
Meanwhile, Punjab has also announced the return of 8th-grade board exams after a gap of four years.
Reports say the Punjab Examination Commission (PECA) has finalized the exam schedule. Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat confirmed that preparations are in progress.
PECA is working with district education authorities to ensure the exams are conducted smoothly.
According to reports, 8th class board exams will begin on March 5, 2026. These exams are being held again for the first time in four years.
