Punjab introduces big changes in matric practical exams – check details

10 February, 2026 16:50

The Matriculation 2026 Exam Task Force has asked all school and exam center principals to install closed-circuit cameras in science laboratories. This step is meant to ensure transparency during practical exams.

In a circular sent to schools, the task force instructed that all preparations for science practical exams must be completed by February 28. Schools are required to make sure that lab computers work properly and that all chemicals, instruments, and equipment are available and in good condition.

After February 28, technical monitoring teams will visit exam centers in all districts and tehsils to check lab readiness. The task force warned that action will be taken against principals and lab in-charges if schools fail to meet the standards.

Practical Exam Structure

Each science practical exam will have two parts:

  1. Assessment of the practical record book

  2. Hands-on practical examination

Resident inspectors at each exam center will supervise and verify the process.

The task force also instructed principals to arrange waiting rooms for parents of female students appearing in practical exams to make it easier for families during exam hours.
