Faizan Sheikh Speaks Out on Unpaid Dues & Fear Culture in Entertainment Industry

22 July, 2025 16:31

Renowned actor and host Faizan Sheikh has openly discussed the struggles actors face in receiving their payments, revealing the fear-driven silence within the showbiz industry.

Actors hesitate to ask for their own money

Speaking on a podcast, Faizan highlighted that many actors are reluctant to demand their rightful dues. “Actors hesitate to ask for their own money because they fear they might not get work again,” he said. He emphasized that despite their hard work, artists often have to request payments in a humble manner.

Unequal Treatment on Set

Faizan also touched on the issue of unequal treatment, noting that major stars receive VIP attention, while lesser-known actors are often ignored. “But if that same actor becomes famous 10 years later, suddenly they get all the protocol,” he pointed out, calling the behavior unfair.

Respectful Silence Despite Huge Losses

He mentioned that several actors are owed large sums—sometimes in the millions—but choose not to name production houses or channels. “In other professions, people fight or file legal cases over unpaid dues, but in showbiz, actors ask for their money with love and humility,” Faizan shared.

Accepting Less Than What’s Due

The actor revealed how artists often settle for less than what they’re owed. “If a producer owes them five rupees and gives only one, they’ll still accept it with a smile,” he said, highlighting how fear limits their response.

Taking a Stand Is Misunderstood

Faizan also pointed out the double standards. “If an actor reacts or takes a stand, people make a fuss, saying they created drama on set,” he explained. However, when actors quietly accept delays, they do it to protect their careers.

A Widespread Issue

He concluded that delayed or unpaid payments are common in the entertainment industry, and unfortunately, not much action is taken due to the powerless position of actors.

Recently, other names like Mohammad Ahmed, Mehreen Jabbar, Yasir Hussain, Ahmed Ali Butt, and Faizan Khawaja have also spoken out about facing similar issues—reflecting a long-standing concern in the media world.
