Faysal Quraishi Break Silence On Saba Qamar’s Karachi Comment

03 November, 2025 17:33

Zahid Ahmed and Faysal Quraishi, two of Pakistan’s most renowned actors, have recently broken their silence over Saba Qamar’s controversial comments about Karachi. The actress made headlines when she expressed her reluctance to move to the city, saying “Astaghfirullah” in reaction to the prospect of living there. The remark sparked outrage among Karachiites, who felt offended by her words.

In response to the controversy, Zahid Ahmed, a close friend and colleague of Saba Qamar, defended her. He stated that Saba is a strong woman who doesn’t let trolling affect her. “She’s okay with people’s opinions, and it has become a trend these days to take statements out of context and make them viral,” Zahid added, emphasizing that people often misconstrue remarks for the sake of controversy.

Meanwhile, Faysal Quraishi, another prominent actor and Karachi resident, shared his perspective on the matter. He acknowledged the city’s importance to him, noting that Karachi had given him everything. However, he admitted that many of his friends had moved away due to issues like the city’s traffic, poor sanitation, and lack of respect for the law. “The city is in shambles, something you won’t see in Punjab or anywhere else,” Faysal remarked, highlighting the challenges Karachi faces.

Veteran actor Mustafa Qureshi also weighed in on the debate, stressing the importance of Karachi as a historic city. He pointed out that every city in Pakistan has its unique charm, mentioning his deep love for all cities, including his hometown of Hyderabad and Lahore, where he spent much of his youth. “Karachi is the city of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, which gives it an edge,” he noted.

Hina Bayat Khawaja, another celebrity, offered a more philosophical viewpoint. She explained that the diversity of Pakistan’s cities should be embraced, comparing the country to a home with different rooms, each having its own distinct scent. “Every room has a different scent, and it should be embraced as it is,” she said, urging unity and acceptance of the nation’s varied cultures.

As the debate continues to unfold, it’s clear that the issue surrounding Saba Qamar’s comment has sparked a wider discussion about the challenges faced by Karachi and the importance of embracing all of Pakistan’s cities with their unique identities.
