Alia Bhatt Missing From ‘Dining with the Kapoors’ — Here’s Why
Netflix’s upcoming series Dining with the Kapoors, created as a heartfelt tribute to Bollywood’s oldest film dynasty, has sparked widespread curiosity — and one question in particular stands out: Why is Alia Bhatt missing?
The platform recently unveiled the trailer, offering viewers an intimate and nostalgic peek into the Kapoor family as they gather for a special lunch marking Raj Kapoor’s 100th birth anniversary. The teaser is filled with warmth, humour, family banter, and the kind of cinematic nostalgia the Kapoors are known for.
However, fans quickly pointed out the absence of Ranbir Kapoor’s wife, Alia Bhatt.
Producer Armaan Jain addressed the speculation, explaining that Alia had “prior commitments to shoot,” and emphasized with Raj Kapoor’s timeless quote, “work is worship.” Director Smriti Mundhra supported his statement, noting that the Kapoor family has always believed that professional responsibilities sometimes take precedence over family gatherings.
The documentary-style special features Randhir Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, Rima Jain, Ranbir Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Karisma Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, and other members of the iconic clan. At one point, Ranbir Kapoor toasts to family unity, while Neetu Kapoor fondly describes the joy and energy of living in a joint family.
Beyond the cheerful moments, the project highlights a larger mission: the Kapoor family’s effort to showcase and preserve their legacy in a modern era where streaming platforms have transformed how film dynasties connect with audiences. The series offers a rare, unfiltered look into their lives — even as conversations continue around those who couldn’t be part of the frame.
