Pakistani Music Duo Sabri Sisters Spotlighted on Times Square Billboard

Pakistani music duo the Sabri Sisters have been featured on Spotify’s digital billboard in New York’s famous Times Square. The recognition came through Spotify’s EQUAL programme, which supports and promotes female artists from around the world.

Made up of sisters Anamta and Saman Sabri, the duo appeared on the billboard on June 17, becoming one of the latest Pakistani women artists to receive international exposure through the initiative.

A well-known family that has been instrumental in preserving the tradition of qawwali music for generations, the Sabri Sisters are the nieces of the legendary qawwal Amjad Sabri and belong to the well-known Sabri Gharana.

The Sabri Sisters, in a field long dominated by men, have carved a place for themselves by combining traditional qawwali and Sufi music with a modern touch. This new style has made their music widely held. They have fascinated a younger spectators at home and everywhere in the world.

In 2017, they rose fame, after releasing an honor song memorial their late uncle, Amjad Sabri. Meanwhile they joined hands with artists like Asim Azhar, Atif Aslam, and Farhan Saeed. Their collaboration with Asim Azhar, Meri Zindagi Hai Tu, come to be their largest hit and stayed in Pakistan’s Top 50 for more than 30 weeks.

Sabri Sisters also performed on Coke Studio where they performed the 2024 song Maghron La with Rozeo.

Sharing their thoughts on the honour, the sisters said it was a proud moment for them, representing Pakistan via Spotify’s EQUAL programme. They prominent that it meant a lot to them to come after celebrated artists like Abida Parveen and Sanam Marvi.

The Sabri Sisters are established to start their first UK tour in summer 2026, highlighting both classic qawwali and contemporary performances. Their accomplishments reflect the intensifying worldwide charm of Pakistani music and the growing love for qawwali among younger generations.
