Bollywood Stars Demand Accountability as Sonam Wangchuk’s Protest Continues

The indefinite hunger strike launched by climate activist and educationist Sonam Wangchuk at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar has entered its 17th day, drawing support from several Bollywood stars and public figures.

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) is one who organize the protest for demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the alleged NEET-UG question paper leak. According to the protesters, the authorities to hold those responsible accountable and call out a fair and crystal clear examination system.

Many distinguished personalities counting Omi Vaidya, writer Arundhati Roy, veteran actors Naseeruddin Shah and Ratna Pathak Shah, and actor Abhay Deol have openly active backing Wangchuk’s dispute.

Initially, they took step in and expressed their support for Wangchuk’s campaign and urged the government to react to the strikers’ distresses.

During the last two weeks, the hunger strike with supporters gathering at Jantar Mantar and many people discussing the issue on social media, and get public attention so far.

Even with the support gained, the government of India has not accepted the strikers’ demands. There has also been no official statement signifying that the government plans to take action or hold talks with the protesters.

As the protest goes on, Wangchuk and his supporters remain committed to their demands for accountability and action for proper investigation into the alleged examination paper leak.
