Obsession Actor Michael Johnston Opens Up About Sequel Possibility

Obsession has turn out to be one of the remarkable films of 2026, exceeding expectations. The actor Michael Johnston who portrays Bear, made it clear that there are no immediate plans for a sequel, which disappointed fans.

Michael appeared in the podcast “I’ve Never Said This Before” with host Tommy DiDario, during interview the actor said, “Look, it’s a magical world. Anything can happen. I would love that.” But Michael further added, “I will say, there’s no plan for that. Also, I don’t know how many people would want Bear back. I think the general consensus is that he kind of got what he deserved.”

Despite there being no immediate plans for a sequel, but Johnston shared his idea about Obsession franchise, as per his view the second installment: the film follows his parents investigate about his disappearance and accidentally make the same fatal mistake of stepping onto the willow.

Later, Johnston made it clear that the film pitch is just a joke.

Despite saying it jokingly, the actor expressed excitement about Curry Barker continuing to build the franchise.

“Curry’s idea of having it be an anthology series is really, really cool,” the actor said. “All different stories. I’d love to see a wish gone right.”

Obsession exceeded all expectations, transforming a $750,000 production into a global box office success with earnings of $400 million.
