KARACHI: Gold prices in Pakistan went up on Monday, following a similar trend in the international market.
In the local market, the price of gold per tola increased by Rs1,300, reaching Rs423,862, according to data shared by the All-Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association (APGJSA). Similarly, the price of 10 grams of gold rose by Rs1,115, reaching Rs363,393.
Just two days earlier, on Saturday, the gold price per tola had fallen by Rs1,600, settling at Rs422,562.
In the international market, gold prices also climbed. The rate was recorded at $4,015 per ounce (including a $20 premium), showing an increase of $13 during the day.
Meanwhile, silver prices also moved up by Rs25 per tola, reaching Rs5,152.
Globally, gold prices remained mostly stable on Monday as the strong U.S. dollar limited major gains. Investors reduced expectations for early interest rate cuts by the Federal Reserve, while easing U.S.-China trade tensions also slowed demand for gold.
At 0504 GMT, spot gold stood flat at $4,000.65 per ounce, while U.S. gold futures for December delivery rose slightly by 0.4% to $4,010 per ounce.
Overall, gold prices have dropped about 9% from their record high of $4,381.21, which was reached on October 20.
