The federal government has announced that an inquiry commission will probe the allegations levelled by six Islamabad High Court judges.

Earlier this week, the six IHC judges wrote a letter to Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) members, regarding attempts to pressure judges through abduction and torture of their relatives as well as secret surveillance inside their homes.

The letter was signed by IHC Justices Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri, Babar Sattar, Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan, Arbab Muhammad Tahir and Saman Rafat Imtiaz.

They also supported the demand of former IHC judge Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui for a probe into the allegations of interference by Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) operatives.

In this regard, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif met the Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa in the Supreme Court today (Thursday).

Following that Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar appeared before media and shared details of the meeting between the CJP and the PM.

He said the notification on the formation of the inquiry commission will be issued within two or four days after deciding its TORs (Terms of Reference).

In response to a question, Tarar said he strongly believed the commission should also investigate the allegation that court verdicts against PMLN in 2017-2018 were the result of interference in the judiciary.

He said the letter was widely circulated on mainstream and social media.
