Olympics may halts Mbappe’s arrival to Real Madrid

Paris Olympics 2024 may turn out to be an unexpected hurdle in Kylian Mbappe’s arrival at Real Madrid, as could result in costing the club in millions, Forbs reported Tuesday.

Last week, the French international told Pairs Saint-Germain (PSG) that he will be leaving the club as his current contract set to expire on June 30.

The move would allow him to join Real Madrid, who made two failed attempts so far in signing the World Cup 2018 winner.

However, with everything going in Madrid’s favour at this moment, Paris Olympics 2024 has turned out to be an unexpected hurdle in the arrival of Mbappe.

Mbappe had made a desire to represent France at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, which could see him clash with expected new club Real Madrid.

The transfer should be completed on July 1, when Mbappe will hope to still be in Germany at the business end of the European Championships with Les Bleus.

French team manager Didier Deschamps recently told TF1: “If he wants to and he has the possibility… Obviously, the objective for all of us is to ensure that Thierry Henry can have the most competitive French team possible for the tournament.”

While Deschamps would have no problem with Mbappe playing for the Olympic side, prospective new club Real Madrid might.

This means, the he is likely to miss a lucrative pre-season tour of the United States, which could cost Madrid financially.

On Monday, MARCA reported that Mbappe has already agreed a five-year deal with Real Madrid meaning he will finally join Los Blancos.

AS reports that Madrid earned roughly $13 million and $16 million respectively from their last two summer tours of the States from playing just four matches.

With Mbappe on board, though, the Spanish paper believes that these figures “could skyrocket”.
