Mir Javed ur Rehman passes away

Mir Javed ur Rehman passes away today (Tuesday). Chairman and printer, publisher of the Jang Group had been battling lung cancer.

He was the eldest son of the late media tycoon Mir Khalil-ur-Rahman and elder brother of Jang Geo Editor-in-Chief Mir Shakil-ur-Rahman.

He had remained under treatment at a private hospital in Karachi.

Under his visionary leadership, the Jang Group became the leading media house in Pakistan.

The group operated newspapers, magazines, and TV channels across the country.

But may a times some insiders also distorted facts misusing the otherwise credible media house.

However, employees respect him more due to relative more friendly policy of him as compared to Mir Shakil.

Meanwhile, President Dr. Arif Alvi has expressed deep grief and sorrow over the death of Jang Group’s Chairman and Publisher Mir Javed-ur-Rehman.

In his message, he prayed for the departed soul and commiserated with the bereaved family.

The President said Mir Javed-ur-Rehman played an important role in the promotion of journalism in the country and his services will always be remembered.

NAB arrested media mogul Mir Shakil over land allotment in Lahore on March 12, 2020.

Earlier, NAB had questioned Mir Shakilur Rehman for 2 hours on March 5.

They arrested him for illegal exemption on 54 plots in Lahore.

A spokesperson for NAB has confirmed the arrest.

He said Mir Shakil failed to provide satisfactory answers to the questions put to him.

The NAB would produce him in the court on Friday to seek 14-day physical remand, according  to teh NAB the statement.

The 54 kanal land in question is in Lahore s Johar Town area and was allotted during former Prime Minister(then Chief Minister) Nawaz Sharif’s tenure.
