Shah Mahmood Qureshi filed post-arrest bail plea in Supreme Court for cipher case

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Monday appeared at the Supreme Court to seek post-arrest bail in the cipher case.
Earlier, Qureshi’s bail application was rejected by the IHC in a hearing conducted by Justcie Aamer Farooq on November 8.
In the petition filed through his lawyer Barrister Ali Bukhari.It is stated that the IHC did not properly assess the facts in the matter.A baseless and politically-motivated case has been made against the petitioner, the plea read.
The plea further stated that Qureshi enjoys immunity under Article 248 of the Constitution on the basis of being the foreign minister.
The petition further contended that the subordinate courts did not examine the facts of the case in a proper manner and the case itself is politically motivated.
The plea stated that the courts did not give due consideration to the core principles of bail as held by the superior courts.
The PTI Chairman Imran Khan and Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi, are currently lodged in the Adaila Jail and the cipher case was being heard against them in the prison.
