SCO summit: Traffic plan announced for Rawalpindi, Islamabad
To ensure a smooth and secure Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Islamabad from October 14 to 16, traffic diversion plans have been put in place for both Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
Over 1,100 traffic officers will be deployed in Islamabad to manage traffic flow and minimize disruptions.
Alternative Routes for Islamabad:
Peshawar to Rawat: Traffic will be diverted through Taxila, Motorway, Chakri Interchange, Chak Beli Road, and Rawat.
Lahore to Peshawar: Vehicles will be redirected to Rawat, Chak Beli Road, Chakri Interchange, Motorway, and Taxila.
Margalla Road to Rawalpindi: Traffic will be diverted to 9th Avenue.
Faisal Avenue to Zero Point: Traffic will also be redirected to 9th Avenue.
Bhara Kahu to Rawalpindi: Korang Road, Bani Gala, and Lehtrar Road are recommended alternative routes.
Alternative Routes for Rawalpindi:
Koral: Traffic will be diverted from Chauhan Chowk to Rawal Road, Shaheen Chowk, and Murree Road.
Amar Chowk: Traffic will be diverted towards Scheme 3 or Kachhari Chowk.
Annexe Chowk: Traffic will be diverted via Jhanda Road (Jhanda Turn) Rashid Minhas Road.
To avoid congestion, motorists are advised to use these alternative routes. Heavy traffic will be restricted from entering Islamabad from October 14 to 16. Citizens are requested to cooperate with the traffic police and follow the designated routes
