Pakistani-American Ali Sheikhani wins US election

Pakistani-American businessman and former police officer Ali Sheikhani has won the election for Fort Bend County constable, securing the position as the Republican candidate.

He defeated his Democratic opponent, Nabil Shike, in the November 5 elections.

Sheikhani, originally from Karachi, Pakistan, has lived in the United States for much of his life, where he previously served as a Texas police officer before venturing into the business world.

In 2012, he established the Shekhani Group, initially operating in Texas but later expanding its operations into Pakistan.

Over the past 12 years, the Shekhani Group has grown significantly, encompassing 40 businesses across the U.S. and Pakistan, with 250 retail outlets.

Currently, the company employs approximately 2,000 individuals and has diversified into various sectors, including gas stations, petrol pumps, solar energy, and other energy solutions.

The Fort Bend County constable role involves local law enforcement responsibilities, with elected officials serving specific terms to maintain peace and order within the county.

Sheikhani’s victory adds another Pakistani-American voice in U.S. local governance.
