Update on Fresh Currency Notes for Eid ul Fitr 2025 in Pakistan

As Eidul Fitr 2025 approaches, people across Pakistan have started looking for fresh currency notes to distribute as “Eidi” among children.

Eidi is a cherished tradition where elders give cash gifts to younger family members, and crisp new notes add to the joy of the occasion.

Update on Fresh Currency Notes for Eid 2025

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has not yet announced whether it will issue fresh currency notes this year. It is worth recalling that in 2023, the central bank did not release new notes for the public ahead of Eidul Fitr.

However, in previous years, SBP had issued millions of rupees in new notes to facilitate the tradition of giving Eidi.

SMS Service for Fresh Currency Notes

In past years, the SBP introduced an SMS-based system for citizens to obtain fresh currency notes from designated bank branches. Under this service, a person had to send an SMS with their 13-digit CNIC number and the desired e-branch ID to the short code 8877.

Upon sending the message, the sender received a response containing a redemption code, the e-branch address, and the validity period. The redemption code was valid for two working days, during which the customer could visit the designated branch with their CNIC, a photocopy, and the transaction code to receive fresh notes.

Typically, an individual was allowed to get three packets of Rs. 10 denomination and one packet each of Rs. 50 and Rs. 100. However, it remains unclear if this service will be available in 2025.

When is Eidul Fitr 2025?

According to predictions, Eidul Fitr 2025 is expected to fall on March 31. However, the final date will be confirmed by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee based on moon sighting.
