Public holiday announced in Punjab
The provincial government has announced a public holiday in Punjab on April 12, 2025, Saturday, on account of the annual Urs (Mela Chiraghan) of Hazrat Shah Hussain.
In this connection, a notification has been issued by Punjab Department of Services and General Administration (Welfare Wing).
The notification said holiday will be observed across Lahore district to mark the annual religious event that attracts thousands of devotees to the city.
According to the notification, however, the holiday would only be observed in Lahore district. It will apply to offices located within Lahore city, it added.
It is to be mentioned here that the Punjab Civil Secretariat, its departments, and regional offices will remain open.
The holiday aims to permit citizens to attend the festivities and ensure the traditions of Mela Chiraghan continue to thrive in Lahore city.
Mela Chiraghan is among the most significant religious and cultural events in Lahore city that marks the life and teachings of Hazrat Shah Hussain.
Hazrat Shah Hussain was a revered Sufi saint, whose devotees from across the country participate in the celebrations.
