PM Shehbaz vows to crush terrorists endangering Pakistan's security
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has vowed to take strong action against terrorism, saying that “enough is enough, it’s time to crush terrorists.”
Speaking during a cabinet meeting, the PM said he attended the funeral prayers of the martyrs in Rawalpindi along with the army chief. He praised the bravery of Lieutenant Colonel Junaid, who fought courageously and killed 19 terrorists.
He also attended the funeral of Major Sibtain Haider on Thursday morning and said the courage and spirit of the martyrs’ families were remarkable. “The families said they are ready to sacrifice everything for the country,” he added.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that the armed forces are sacrificing their lives every day for the safety of the nation. He condemned the “terrorists coming from the neighboring country to spread unrest” and stressed that such conspiracies will not be allowed in Pakistan.
He further said that “false friends are providing shelter to terrorists,” and called for strict measures to eliminate terrorism and punish facilitators equally. “We will not allow anyone to spread chaos in the country,” he said.
On foreign affairs, the prime minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s clear stance on Palestine, demanding an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and the right to self-determination for Palestinians.
He mentioned that former U.S. President Donald Trump had chaired a meeting in New York attended by eight countries, including Pakistan, and said the discussion focused on Gaza and regional stability.
“Pakistan’s position on Palestine has not changed,” he said, adding that Pakistan strongly condemns the desecration of Al-Aqsa Mosque and supports the Palestinians in line with UN resolutions.
PM Shehbaz also highlighted the strong brotherly ties between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, saying that “an attack on one will be considered an attack on both.”
He appreciated the efforts of the high-level committee on Kashmir and said, “Kashmiris are our pride, and we will resolve their issues through dialogue.”
