Police seize cash, gold, Indian currency in raid on Saad Rizvi’s home
LAHORE: Punjab Police have claimed to recover a huge amount of valuables, including local and foreign currency, during a raid at the residence of Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) chief, Saad Rizvi.
According to officials, the police seized cash, gold jewellery, expensive watches, prize bonds, and other valuable items. The recovered Pakistani currency reportedly amounted to Rs144.4 million, while foreign currencies worth over Rs2.5 million were also found. These included Indian, British, Canadian, Saudi, and UAE currencies.
Additionally, police stated that gold worth Rs63.4 million was recovered during the operation.
Multiple FIRs Registered Against TLP Leaders
Police in Muridke have also registered three more FIRs against Saad Rizvi, his brother Anas Rizvi, and other senior TLP members. This brings the total number of FIRs against the group’s leadership to four.
The cases accuse them of inciting violence, spreading hatred against state institutions, and encouraging people to rise against the government. Police also reported arresting 104 new suspects, bringing the total number of detainees to 108.
Serious Charges Filed
The FIRs include around 30 serious charges, such as attempted murder, attacking police, blocking roads, and damaging property. Anti-terrorism clauses (Sections 6 and 7) have also been added, which can result in life imprisonment or the death penalty.
Meanwhile, another case was filed in Sheikhupura against 200 TLP workers for allegedly throwing stones at vehicles on the motorway and damaging a government car. This case includes 12 charges related to rioting, arson, and property damage.
The investigation is still ongoing as authorities continue to recover assets and arrest more suspects linked to the violence.
