Heavy earthqauke jolt in Islamabad, Peshawar, Abbottabad, and Gilgit
Tremors from an earthquake were felt in several parts of Pakistan, including Islamabad, Peshawar, and Abbottabad, on Friday.
According to reports, strong shocks were also felt in Gilgit city and nearby areas, causing panic among residents who rushed out of homes and offices.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) confirmed that tremors were also felt in Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Chitral, Swat, and Malakand.
The seismological center recorded the earthquake at a magnitude of 5.6 with a depth of 120 kilometers. The epicenter of the quake was located in the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan.
So far, no casualties or major damage have been reported. Authorities have advised citizens to remain calm and follow safety measures during aftershocks.
