PML-N No Longer Needs PPP Support After By-Election Landslide
Islamabad: In the National Assembly by-elections, the Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has been victorious in all constituencies and become the largest party in the Assembly with 132 seats.
Following a super triumph in by-elections, PML-N ends dependence on the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) for a simple majority in the house to pass the law, as the party needed support from PPP before by-elections to amend the law.
However, with the new wins and the backing of independent members, PML-N has a total of 170 seats, while a simple majority in the National Assembly requires 169 seats to change any constitution clause.
This is therefore a big win for PML-N, providing the party more power to govern without needing extra support from other parties.
