07 December, 2025 19:18

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi addressed a large PTI rally in Peshawar on Saturday, urging the adoption of a unified and consistent provincial policy that reflects the will of the people. Thousands of PTI supporters attended the gathering, where Afridi underscored the importance of unity, stability, and effective governance.

During his address, the chief minister reiterated his commitment to public welfare and transparent governance. Emphasizing the need for cohesion in decision-making, Afridi stated, “[The] KP is not a laboratory; it belongs to the proud Pashtuns. From now on, the government and the people will follow one policy.”

He stressed that political narratives must not interfere with administrative responsibilities, asserting that genuine leadership requires accountability and clearly defined roles. The rally also witnessed strong support for PTI founder Imran Khan, with attendees chanting slogans demanding a march to D-Chowk. Afridi responded by assuring the crowd that he would soon announce such a call, while maintaining a focus on constitutional and legal procedures.

Senior PTI figures including former National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser and KP President Junaid Akbar also addressed the crowd, criticizing attempts to label the party as a threat to national security. They emphasized that PTI’s priorities remain rooted in democracy, governance, and public welfare, warning against the misuse of institutions for political gain.

Concluding the event, the chief minister reaffirmed the party’s dedication to consistent governance and the mandate given by the people. “The people of KP have spoken, and their support ensures that we will follow one clear policy – one that reflects their needs, their safety, and their future,” he said.

In addition to political messaging, Afridi announced a major Rs100 billion development package for Peshawar. He revealed upcoming initiatives including “a 5,000-bed medical complex, new underpasses on Ring Road and GT Road, and other infrastructure improvements aimed at modernising the city and improving public services.”

The rally reinforced PTI’s stance on development, public participation, and stable governance across the province.
