Supreme Court to Introduce Online Billing System

20 December, 2025 14:54

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan is set to modernise its financial system by introducing a new online billing system. The decision was announced after a briefing by Accountant General Pakistan Revenue (AGPR) Kamran Rashid to Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi.

This step is part of a wider plan to digitalise government payments and reduce the use of manual paperwork.

During the meeting, Kamran Rashid informed the Chief Justice about AGPR’s ongoing digital projects aimed at making government payments faster and more transparent. The briefing focused on improving expense settlements and cutting delays caused by manual processes.

Chief Justice Yahya Afridi welcomed the initiative and said that upgrading the Supreme Court’s financial system is a top priority.

AGPR officials confirmed that the online billing system will become operational within two weeks. Once launched, it will reduce reliance on physical bills and cheques and allow quicker payments for court-related expenses.

Expansion to High Courts

The project is also expected to expand to High Courts in the future. Under this plan, court fees and securities will be collected digitally.

The Chief Justice stressed that lawyers, litigants, and other stakeholders should benefit from safe and easy digital payment systems. He also highlighted the importance of working with the State Bank of Pakistan to ensure secure and transparent financial transactions across the judicial system.

At the end of the meeting, AGPR Kamran Rashid presented a commemorative shield to Chief Justice Yahya Afridi as a symbol of cooperation in moving towards digital financial reforms.
