The federal government announced on Wednesday a significant reduction in petroleum product prices, offering a New Year relief to the public.
According to a notification from the Petroleum Division, “the price of petrol has been reduced by Rs10.28 per litre,” bringing the revised rate to Rs253.17 per litre.
Similarly, high-speed diesel has seen a price cut of Rs8.57 per litre, with the new rate set at Rs257.08 per litre.
The notification confirmed that “the revised prices will come into effect from midnight tonight and will remain applicable until January 15.”
This reduction is being closely monitored by citizens, as changes in fuel prices directly affect transportation costs and the prices of essential goods nationwide.
This move is being viewed as a welcome relief for the public, especially as the country enters the new year with rising economic pressures.
