PTA Mobile Phone Tax Rates: Passport vs CNIC – January 2026
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) allows overseas Pakistanis and international travelers to register their mobile phones in Pakistan by paying required duties and taxes. Registration is done through the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) using the Device Identification Registration and Blocking System (DIRBS).
What is DIRBS?
DIRBS is a system that helps identify non-compliant mobile devices on Pakistani networks. It automatically registers phones that meet PTA rules and blocks devices that do not comply.
How to Register
Users can register their phones using either:
Passport (for international travelers)
CNIC (for Pakistani residents)
The tax and duty rates depend on the device’s cost and the document used for registration.
