Sindh announces closure of educational institutions until March 31
The Sindh government has announced several important decisions after a cabinet meeting chaired by the Chief Minister of Sindh. Senior Minister Sharjeel Memon shared the details with the media.
He said the cabinet approved the launch of the Benazir Agriculture Card, which will support farmers across the province. The government also decided that women farmers will be given equal rights and opportunities in the agriculture sector.
To support working women, the cabinet approved a Rs. 500 million fund for laborer women. In addition, the government also approved the issuance of worker cards to provide better support and benefits to workers.
Sharjeel Memon added that authorities will now closely monitor student attendance and admission records in educational institutions to improve the education system.
Meanwhile, the Sindh government has announced emergency measures to deal with the fuel crisis. As part of these steps, all schools across Sindh will remain closed from March 16 to March 31. However, exams will still take place according to the scheduled timetable. During the closure, students will continue their studies through online classes.
The government has also decided to reduce fuel use in government vehicles by 50% for two months, and about 60% of official vehicles will not be used during this period.
Sharjeel Memon further said that the Chief Minister and provincial ministers have decided not to take their salaries for three months. A decision about the salaries of assembly members will be made by the provincial assembly.
Additionally, Friday will be observed as a work-from-home day, while Saturday and Sunday will remain holidays for government offices.
The Sindh cabinet has also banned foreign official visits for government officials for the time being as part of cost-saving measures.
