Pakistan Offers Mediation as Iran–US-Israel Conflict Escalates Across Middle East

18 March, 2026 19:34

Attaullah Tarar has stated that Pakistan is prepared to play a constructive role in easing rising tensions in the Middle East, as the conflict involving Iran, Israel, and the United States continues to intensify.

In remarks to Al Jazeera, Tarar highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to promoting diplomatic stability in the region and its readiness to contribute to de-escalation efforts. He expressed a sincere “desire to participate in de-escalating the situation” and preventing further instability, noting that Pakistan’s longstanding regional relationships position it to assist in mediation.

“Pakistan is involved in talking with various partners, and we have always wanted for this balance in relations to remain, and I think we are able to play a mediation role with the countries in the region”, he added.

The statement comes amid heightened hostilities, with Iran reportedly launching missile strikes on Tel Aviv in response to Israeli actions, including the killing of senior Iranian figures such as Ali Larijani and Gholamreza Soleimani. Iranian authorities also reported the deaths of Larijani’s son and deputy, Alireza Bayat, in recent strikes.

According to Iranian state media, weapons used in the attacks included Khorramshahr-4 and Qadr missiles equipped with multiple warheads. The strikes reportedly caused casualties in areas near Tel Aviv, increasing the death toll in Israel.

Israel and the United States have maintained that their military campaign aims to prevent Iran from advancing a nuclear weapons programme. The ongoing conflict has resulted in significant losses among Iran’s leadership and shows no immediate signs of easing.

Meanwhile, regional tensions have widened, with Iran reportedly targeting sites across Gulf countries, including infrastructure and military installations. Thousands of missile and drone attacks have been reported, many aimed at the United Arab Emirates.

In response to the escalating situation, Saudi Arabia is hosting a meeting of foreign ministers from Arab and Islamic nations in Riyadh to discuss strategies for regional security and stability.

At the same time, Iran’s new supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, has dismissed proposals aimed at reducing tensions with the United States. He stated it was not “the right time for peace until the United States and Israel are brought to their knees, accept defeat, and pay compensation,” signaling a continued hardline stance as the conflict persists.
