5.2 Magnitude Earthquake Shakes Islamabad, Peshawar and KP Region, No Damage Reported
A moderate earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale struck Islamabad, Peshawar, and several regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday, according to the Seismic Monitoring Centre.
Officials confirmed that the earthquake originated at a depth of approximately 125 kilometres, with its epicentre located in the border region between Tajikistan and China.
The tremors were felt across multiple cities, including Pakistan’s capital Islamabad and the provincial capital Peshawar, causing brief panic among residents who rushed out of homes and buildings as a precaution.
Despite the intensity of the quake, authorities reported that there were no immediate reports of damage or casualties from the affected areas.
Emergency and monitoring teams continue to assess the situation, while seismic authorities are closely tracking any possible aftershocks in the region.
