Karachi Weather Update: Temperature Expected to Stay Below 40°C

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has stated that Karachi’s weather is expected to remain hot and dry over the next 24 hours, with temperatures likely staying below 40°C.

According to the Met Office, the maximum temperature in the city is expected to range between 37°C and 39°C, while the minimum recorded temperature overnight stood at 26.5°C. The department also reported calm wind conditions and humidity levels at around 48%.

Meanwhile, rescue officials have reported that at least eight people died in Karachi on Monday, with some of the deaths being linked to intense heat conditions. “Karachi recorded its hottest day of the year on Monday as temperatures surged to 44.1°C.”

According to rescue teams, four bodies were recovered from different streets, while four others died after being shifted to hospitals in critical condition. The deceased were reported from multiple areas including Manghopir, Gulshan-e-Hadeed, Boat Basin, and Suparco Road.

Additional victims were taken from locations such as Liaquatabad, Jamali Bridge, Surjani Town, and Defence Phase 8, but could not survive despite medical treatment.

The PMD confirmed that Monday marked the hottest day of the year for Karachi, intensifying concerns over the ongoing heatwave.

Medical experts have advised residents to minimize outdoor activities, especially during peak hours from 11am to 3pm, and to stay hydrated to avoid heat-related illnesses. They also recommended wearing light-colored, loose clothing and covering the head when stepping outside.

Health professionals further cautioned citizens to avoid street food, drink boiled water, and maintain hygiene to prevent stomach and heat-related illnesses as extreme weather conditions persist.
