Sindh to launch new electric and double-decker buses in Karachi

The Sindh government is planning to improve public transport by adding new electric buses and double-decker buses in Karachi. The government also plans to expand intercity bus services across the province to make travel easier for people.

A meeting of the Transport and Mass Transit Department was chaired by Sharjeel Inam Memon. The meeting was attended by Transport Secretary Asad Zamin, Sindh Mass Transit Authority Managing Director Saleemullah Odho, and other officials.

Officials discussed new routes for the Peoples Bus Service, distribution of pink electric scooters for women, the EV taxi service, and several ongoing and future transport projects.

Sharjeel Memon said the Sindh government will buy 1,000 more pink electric scooters for women. He also confirmed that new electric buses and double-decker buses will soon be introduced in Karachi.

He added that the government has decided to launch intercity Peoples Bus Service to further improve the transport system in Sindh.

Under the new plan, bus routes from Khairpur to Rohri and from Khairpur to Ranipur will start next week.

The minister also said intercity bus services will soon begin in several districts, including Larkana, Dadu, Sehwan, Hyderabad, and Sanghar.
