PTA bans SIM card sales during midnight hours
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has announced a nationwide ban on the sale of SIM cards between midnight and 6:00 am.
According to the PTA, the step has been taken to stop the illegal sale and misuse of unauthorized SIM cards across the country.
Under the new policy, all mobile network companies, franchises, retailers, and SIM sales points have been directed to stop selling SIMs during these hours.
The PTA said strict action will be taken against anyone who violates the rules. Legal and administrative action may be taken under telecom laws.
Citizens have been advised to buy SIM cards only from authorized shops during official business hours. The authority also reminded users to complete biometric verification before activating a SIM card.
The PTA encouraged people to report any illegal SIM sale or rule violation through the PTA Complaint Management System, PTA CMS mobile app, WhatsApp digital assistant, or the toll-free helpline.
A PTA spokesperson said the decision is aimed at improving security, protecting consumers, and creating a safer telecom environment in Pakistan.
