Metro bus fire damages vehicle and disrupts Rawalpindi–Islamabad service
A Metro bus was completely destroyed after catching fire near the 6th Road bus stop in Rawalpindi on Saturday morning. Fortunately, no passengers were injured in the incident.
According to rescue officials, the fire started while the bus was passing through the 6th Road station area. Teams from Rescue 1122 quickly reached the spot and controlled the blaze.
After the incident, Metro bus service between Rawalpindi and Islamabad was temporarily suspended.
Authorities have not yet confirmed the cause of the fire.
Thick smoke from the burning bus could be seen from far away, while videos shared on social media showed the red Metro bus covered in flames. Rescue workers were also seen trying to put out the fire as the vehicle burned.
This is not the first such incident involving Metro buses in Pakistan. In 2025, at least seven passengers were injured after jumping from a Metrobus that caught fire near Naseerabad Station on Ferozepur Road in Lahore.
In another incident in 2021, a Metro bus was completely destroyed by fire near Minar-i-Pakistan station in Lahore, reportedly due to a short circuit.
