Pakistan Plans Rs1.727 Trillion Petroleum Levy Collection in FY2026-27
The Pakistan government is expected to set a petroleum levy collection target of Rs1.727 trillion for the next financial year.
This target is about Rs292 billion higher than the current year’s target and around Rs157 billion more than the expected collection for this year.
Sources said the government is likely to comfortably meet this year’s target of Rs1.468 trillion. From July to May, petroleum levy collections reached Rs1.43 trillion.
An additional Rs140 billion is expected in June, which could take total collections to around Rs1.57 trillion—about Rs100 billion above the original target.
Data shows that levy collections were also much higher compared to last year, with nearly Rs600 billion more collected during July–May than the same period last year.
Throughout the year, monthly collections fluctuated, beginning at Rs157 billion in July and recording significant amounts such as Rs162.46 billion in December and Rs146 billion in April.
Sources added that the bulk of revenue came from imported fuel as well as locally refined petroleum products.
These figures reflect a steady growth in petroleum levy income, which is now becoming a key source of government revenue ahead of the upcoming federal budget.
