Quetta Hospital Acid Attack Victim Dr Mahnoor Nasir in Stable Condition

In Quetta hospital, as per hospital sources, a female doctor who injured in an acid attack is now in stable condition and receiving treatment at a private hospital in Karachi.

After the incident happened Dr. Mahnoor Nasir was shifted to Karachi via airlift for treatment after she was seriously injured in the attack at Sandeman Provincial Hospital in Quetta.

As per hospital sources reported reconstructive surgeons and eye specialists have evaluated her state. She suffered burns on her face, abdomen, legs, and right hand and is under treatment in a special care unit.

According to doctors, about 13% of her body suffered acid burns. Her eyes were affected, but her vision remains intact and she is out of danger.

When she was taken to the private hospital on University Road, Karachi, doctors and initial medical tests and check-ups, which said her condition is stable and she will be checked again after 24 hours in under specialists’ supervision. She will likely be kept under observation for 10 days, including an initial two-day stay in the ICU.

For the meantime, police have registered a case in Quetta over the attack. The FIR was filed against suspect Humayun Shah under Section 336-B. Police said the suspect was later killed during an encounter while trying to arrest him

According to Health Minister Bakht Kakar, the suspect had been harassing the doctor for months, and his mobile phone contained evidence of it.

He added that Balochistan has burn centres, but the doctor was moved to Karachi at her family’s request.

Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti assured complete support and medical care for the doctor and her family, and also praised a hospital employee who got injured during the rescue attempt.

The incident has caused widespread anger in Balochistan, with the Young Doctors Association announcing a boycott of all services except emergency care.
