Four holidays for govt employees next week – Check dates
The new Islamic year, 1448 AH, will begin on June 17 after the Muharram moon was not sighted on June 15.
As a result, 9th Muharram will be observed on June 25, while 10th Muharram, Youm-e-Ashura, will fall on June 26.
The federal government usually announces public holidays on 9th and 10th Muharram to facilitate religious gatherings, processions, and security arrangements across the country. An official notification regarding this year’s holidays is expected soon.
Four-Day Long Weekend Expected
If public holidays are announced on June 25 and 26, government employees will enjoy a four-day break, as Saturday and Sunday follow immediately after the Ashura holidays.
KP Government Declares Holiday on 1st Muharram
Meanwhile, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced a public holiday across the province on 1st Muharram 1448 AH.
A formal notification has been issued confirming the closure of government offices on the occasion.
Security Arrangements During Muharram
Authorities are expected to make special security and administrative arrangements during Muharram to ensure the peaceful observance of religious events and processions across the country.
