PM Shehbaz Sharif, Field Marshal Asim Munir Play Key Role in Iran–US Deal: Security Sources

Security sources have confirmed that the Iran–US agreement ceremony will take place on June 19 in Geneva.

According to the sources, Pakistani media played a strong and positive role during the negotiations, helping highlight key diplomatic developments.

They said that Field Marshal’s top priority remains peace and stability in the region, adding that lasting stability is essential for regional prosperity.

Security officials stated that without Pakistan’s role, there could have been a risk of conflict among Muslim countries. They also acknowledged the leadership role of Saudi Arabia in supporting peace efforts.

Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates were described as close and friendly countries, according to the sources.

Security sources said that the Pakistan Army has strong representation from Azad Jammu and Kashmir, with more than 40,000 officers and soldiers from Kashmiri backgrounds.

They added that love for Kashmir is deeply rooted in Pakistan, calling it an unfinished agenda of the partition of the subcontinent.

Officials said that no Pakistani forces blocked supply trucks in Kashmir, and instead blamed elements of the banned Joint Action Committee for creating disruptions.

They further stated that any disruptive groups will be dealt with through constitutional and legal means, adding that the state does not act in haste.

Security sources said inflation impacts overall expenditures, and around 85% of the defence budget is spent on salaries and routine expenses.

They added that nearly 85% of the budget circulates back into the system, contributing to the broader economy.

Officials also noted that Pakistan’s armed forces consist of around 5.5 lakh personnel.

They reiterated that Pakistan remains committed to peace, stability, and regional cooperation.
