Sindh Deploys 59,265 Security Personnel for Ashura 2026: Sharjeel Inam Memon Confirms Foolproof Plan Across Province

Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon announced on the occasion of Ashura that comprehensive and foolproof security arrangements have been put in place across the entire province to maintain law and order during the sacred day of mourning.

Memon stated that the Sindh government, police, and all relevant agencies are fully mobilized to ensure the security of majalis (mourning gatherings) and central processions. He confirmed that the security plan is being fully implemented across all sensitive districts of Sindh, including Karachi.

According to the minister, a special security plan has been devised for 1,292 central processions and 1,637 majalis across Sindh, with a total of 59,265 police officers and personnel performing security duties throughout the province.

In Karachi Range alone, 6,843 police personnel have been deployed to provide security for 114 processions and 489 majalis. Security deployments in other divisions include 17,949 in Hyderabad, 3,156 in Mirpurkhas, 6,476 in Shaheed Benazirabad, 9,086 in Sukkur, and 15,755 in Larkana Range.

Memon noted that DIG-level officers have been assigned to supervise the main processions, and police commanders are present on the ground to personally oversee all security arrangements. Routes of processions in sensitive areas have been fully swept by bomb disposal squads as a precautionary measure. Adjacent streets, roads, markets, and shops along procession routes have been temporarily sealed for security purposes.

Pakistan Army troops and Pakistan Rangers Sindh personnel have also been deployed alongside law enforcement agencies to assist with security at sensitive locations and key processions. All agencies are coordinating closely with each other, and all routes are being monitored using modern surveillance methods.

The minister reaffirmed that the protection of citizens’ lives and property and ensuring law and order remain the top priorities of the Sindh government. He also paid tribute to the sacrifice of Imam Hussein (AS) and the martyrs of Karbala, saying their example teaches lessons of patience, tolerance, truth and peace. He appealed to all citizens to promote peace and brotherhood and to cooperate fully with the administration.
