PM Shehbaz Orders Comprehensive National Agriculture Policy

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired a high-level meeting in Islamabad to review the restructuring of the Ministry of National Food Security and Research and discuss reforms aimed at strengthening Pakistan’s agriculture sector. During the meeting, the prime minister directed authorities to formulate a comprehensive national agriculture policy in consultation with all provinces at the earliest.

The prime minister also instructed that the Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) be transformed into a true center of agricultural research and innovation. He said a dedicated forum would hold monthly meetings to ensure the effective implementation of the Agriculture Innovation and Growth Plan and monitor progress on key reform initiatives.

Shehbaz Sharif further directed the launch of a nationwide awareness campaign for the agricultural loan program to help farmers gain easier access to affordable financing. He emphasized that the agriculture sector has tremendous potential to drive Pakistan’s economic growth and called for coordinated efforts to modernize farming and improve productivity.
