Karachi to Evacuate Dangerous Buildings Ahead of Monsoon Season

An important meeting was held in Karachi under the chairmanship of Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi, where it was decided to vacate highly dangerous buildings before the onset of monsoon rains. The move comes as part of precautionary measures to prevent potential loss of life during the rainy season.
Officials were briefed that a total of 584 buildings in Karachi have been declared dangerous, including 59 extremely hazardous structures. Among these, 29 are classified as historic buildings. The Sindh Building Control Authority informed the meeting about the current condition of these structures.
It was decided that the Building Control Authority will issue immediate evacuation notices to residents of unsafe buildings, while also publicizing warnings for public awareness. The commissioner directed authorities to prioritize safety measures and take urgent steps to protect the lives of residents.
