PM Shehbaz Lauds FBR Officials Over Revenue Performance, Sets New Tax Target

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has met senior officials of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and praised their performance for exceeding the revenue target in the previous fiscal year. He described the achievement as an important milestone for the country’s economic stability and governance reforms.

During the meeting, the prime minister congratulated FBR staff and commended their efforts in improving tax collection and administrative efficiency. He said that achieving a historic revenue target for the 2025–26 fiscal year would be a key objective moving forward.

Shehbaz Sharif also highlighted that timely payment of around Rs 600 billion in tax refunds had contributed to the promotion of exports. He added that the revenue target for the current fiscal year has been set at Rs 15 trillion, underscoring the government’s focus on strengthening fiscal discipline and expanding the tax base.
