Amjad Hussain Takes Oath as Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan

Amjad Hussain Advocate has officially taken oath as the Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan. The oath was administered by Governor Syed Mehdi Shah during a formal ceremony attended by senior political leaders, including Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

In his address, the Chief Minister highlighted the recent election results, noting that the Pakistan Peoples Party secured two seats in the Diamer region for the first time. He said voter turnout was strong across Gilgit-Baltistan and added that, historically, election outcomes in the region have often reflected the political party in power at the federal level.

He also expressed gratitude to several political figures, including Nawaz Sharif, Shehbaz Sharif, and Aleem Khan, for their role in supporting democratic processes. He outlined plans to strengthen tourism, improve transport links, introduce visa facilitation measures, protect natural parks and wildlife, and seek increased federal funding to address the region’s financial shortfalls.
