KP Police Officer Alleges Political Misuse of Force, Confronts Chief Minister Over Welfare and Deployment
A police officer in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa openly criticized the provincial government during a meeting with the chief minister, alleging that the police are being used for political purposes.
According to the claims, the officer told CM Sohail Afridi that he had faced violence, arrests, and imprisonment while carrying out duties linked to political events in Bani Gala and Zaman Park.
The officer said that if he could not be properly rewarded for his service, he should at least receive what he deserves. He also claimed that two of his personnel were killed because rescue support did not arrive on time.
He further questioned how police officers could manage their monthly expenses with a ration allowance of only Rs1,000.
The report also claimed that there is growing evidence of the political use of police and other government institutions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Some analysts alleged that instead of improving governance, the provincial government is using the police for political activities. They also claimed that public funds are being spent on political rallies and protests while many police personnel continue to face financial difficulties.
These claims have been made by the police officer and analysts. The provincial government has not been included in this report’s response.
